Summary of Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects within defined timelines, budgets, and scope. The role ensures that project objectives are achieved while coordinating teams, managing risks, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning
- Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones
- Allocate resources and assign responsibilities
Project Execution
- Lead project teams to ensure successful delivery of project objectives
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as necessary
- Ensure adherence to project scope, timelines, and budgets
Stakeholder Management
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders
- Provide regular updates on project status and performance
- Manage expectations and resolve any issues or conflicts
Budget & Cost Management
- Develop and manage project budgets
- Track project costs and ensure financial control
- Identify cost-saving opportunities
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and issues
- Develop mitigation plans and contingency strategies
- Monitor risks throughout the project lifecycle
Quality Assurance
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and requirements
- Implement quality control processes
- Conduct project reviews and evaluations
Team Leadership
- Lead and motivate project team members
- Facilitate collaboration and effective communication
- Provide guidance and support to the team
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare project reports and documentation
- Maintain accurate project records
- Conduct post-project evaluations and lessons learned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous
- 10 years’ experience in project management (advantageous – Civil Engineering)
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and tools
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated experience in managing or executing projects in the mining sector would be beneficial.
