South Africa is listed as one of the top 30 water-scarce countries in the world. The latest National Water Management Strategy focuses strongly on Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WCWDM).
The mining industry is a major water consumer in South Africa, and as such, it is becoming critical for the industry to reduce its freshwater consumption, and to improve its internal water reticulation systems.
In supplying water treatment chemicals and services for the past 30 years, Watercare Mining has built a reputation in the mining and minerals industry based on dedicated service delivery which is focused on solving customer problems.
Chemicals for water treatment only part of our solution
This is reflected by our presence on several sites, where we trial new technologies and develop solutions for complex systems, where chemical addition is only one of the components of the optimum solution.
We believe that effective (traditional) water treatment through chemical addition is an entry-level competency in the water treatment industry. Because the market and chemical technology have not changed substantially for decades, all the companies tendering will probably offer very similar formulations. However, the difference between an average and excellent service provider can be evaluated using the following criteria:
- The determination, passion and diligence of the service person on site
- Technical and practical ability of the service providers in assisting the customer
- The ability of the company to solve problems with an array of technologies
- The ability to understand the customer’s water systems intimately, and to implement practical solutions (often in practice are seldom related to the introduction of additional chemicals)
